PARC is a charity set up in 1995 to provide recreational facilities for children and young people in Saltdean, Rottingdean and Ovingdean.
We operated for 5 years before opening the charity shop and in that time funded the first play area in Rottingdean and much of the cost of building the toilet block at the same location. Over the 20 years of running the charity shop/s PARC has been able to fund a host of other facilities including;
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Trustees have permanently closed the charity shops in Rottingdean High Street as we are unable to be able open safely nor profitably while following guidelines. This has been a hard decision to make and has involved a very comprehensive risk assessment. We have been inundated with expressions of sorrow and regret from customers, volunteers and other traders and thank everyone for this.
However, PARC plans to continue the work of campaigning and seeking funding for facilities for our young people.
To mark the 25th Anniversary of the charity we have a project planned for a children's storytelling area on Rottingdean seafront.
We are always keen to hear from people about what is needed for children and young people locally so please keep in touch.
