Run Pals Community Help: We are hosting a food drop off collection point for local food banks, on Saturday at 12.00-2pm. We are also asking local folk if they do have an excess of things like children's nappies or cleaning products to bring these along (unused and unopened please), so that we can store excess for our community if they should really need it. Food Banks are struggling already, but with the added possibility that over the coming weeks more people will be forced to reduce working hours or even not have any work, the demand on these food banks may be overwhelming in the weeks and months ahead. We would like to collect non perishable items such as tinned foods or sealed food items like pastas etc. as long as it is sealed and new. No soft fruit / veg please - only tinned. We will place a table inside the door at the community centre where we ask that you drop off your food items on the table so we can sort to help avoid unnecessary contact. If anyone has cardboard boxes that will help to hold the foods, this would also be greatly appreciated! If anyone had any items like alcohol gels that they can share with the community, please also bring items such as these and we will collect, holding for this that do desperately need them. We aim to have printed out postcards that you could collect on the day, to distribute in our community. Please share this far and wide so we can help our community. Thanks! Matt Coyne Latest: Pals, we have just received about a thousand of these printed leaflets. Local resident Mark Mccarty helped organise getting these printed and the amazing people at Prontaprint on Middle Street Brighton very kindly printed them for free for us. They wouldn’t even take a cost price payment - we do have some epic people around us. Sara Rogers and her team at Molly’s cafe on Rottingdean Beach will have some on their takeaway countertop available to collect if you are down in the sunshine. We will have a laminated map of the area printed so if you collect some (please only take a handful - lots of people would like to help) mark the road(s) that you’re dropping them through letterboxes so that we don’t double up distribution. We’ll have them with us on Saturday at our food / necessities drive if you’d like to collect some there too. Thank you amazing people.
