A Peacehaven man who popped into the Smuggler's Rest with his wife for an hour leaving his vehicle in the pub's car park was amazed to receive an £85 parking fine a week later.
John Moogan was unaware that the Smuggler's Rest at Telscombe cliffs requires you to log your vehicle's number plate into an iPad in the bar. This practice is meant to deter people from 'misusing' the car park, presumably that means parking there for non pub visiting. Mr Moogan, has claimed there were no warning signs in the area and that no staff member informed him of this seemly new requirement.
