Our popular undercliff path, for walkers and cyclist alike, has been included in a top list of 22 of the best beach walks that can be visited from Surrey for the day, as defined by SurreyLive.
They start the walk at Brighton Marina where they recommend heading west to enjoy all that Brighton can offer, centred around Palace Pier. Whereas for a more peaceful time they say head east for Saltdean where it is less busy.

his walk has a unique feel, which they note with the white cliffs offering one boundary with the beach and sea on the other. Every walk down there is different with the changing moods of the sea and weather. No wonder we were placed number 8 on their list.
The facilities get a mention – toilets and cafes, although pointing towards the Marina. Of course, Ovingdean has its café on the front as does Rottingdean and Saltdeana and all overlooking our lovely beaches.
You can walk to Rottingdean, Saltdean, Peacehaven and all the way to Newhaven
Rough seas, can at times, swamp this walkway. In these conditions it is recommended not to go down there. Watching the waves strike the white cliffs can be spectacular if watched from a safe distance.
Hopefully, our friends from Surrey will come and see us on one of our many sunny days. Our 'Undercliff Walk' is in good company, on their list of the best beach walks.
