Hey green fingers, Can you identify this plant?

Can anybody please identify this type of plant that we have noticed springing up more and more recently in our area?

We are expecting some answers akin to 'Brian' or 'a green one', so knock yourself out with the witty banter, we like a bush-based giggle here!

Anyway, we tried to find an image of it on a Google search but unfortunately we didn't seem to see anything there.

We'd like to know if it is a desirable garden addition or a some sort of invasive 'Triffid-like' weed? It does seem to grow into small tree proportions, we do believe the plant is not something to get high on though (unless of course you intend to climb it).

We have included in the gallery a picture of what we think is a 'seedling' version, but as you can tell we are no experts in this field!

Looking forward to your sparkling pearls of horticultural wisdom lifting our gloom of ignorance on this matter  - Thank you.
