Latest: Saltdean Lido CIC ask Brighton & Hove Council to underwrite £1.6m for restoration of building
The Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company have asked the Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) to underwrite £1.6m so that the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant of £4.2m can be secured for the restoration of the Grade II* listed community building.
The pool has already attracted over 35,000 attendances, so the substantial restoration of the structure, estimated at £7.2m, is key to the long term financial sustainability of the project.
Other recent avenues of funding have not been successful, leaving the lido in desperate need of the HLF money.
The current BHCC loan stands at £220,000, the council are due to meet this Thursday (14th) and the lido funding will be on the agenda.
