Saltdean - Rottingdean Settling on the Downs A view from west to east of very sparse looking Saltdean circa the mid to late 1920s. Notice the white triangular point on the left side of the picture, this is fencing that will soon be surrounding new tennis courts, later that same plot will be where the Saltdean Lido will stand. We are unsure of who the folk in the picture are, maybe on the right it is Charles Neville, who was the driving force in the property development of Peacehaven and Saltdean or possibly it could have been William Kerr, who was the proprietor of the Smugglers Haunt Cafe, which can be seen standing behind the ladies on the cliff top in the centre of the picture. Bride and Tide These newly weds were not going to let October's Storm Brian get in the way of their wedding day photo-shoot! Best wishes to them from all of us here at ZoneZine. Thank you to G & W Kerr and Gary Silver for kind permission to use their images.
