Saltdean, Brighton: Reports of cat decapitated and left on owner's doorstep

25/9/2017

Comments

A number of concerned people have messaged us asking if we have any further news on the unconfirmed reports that a 97 year old lady who is living in Saltdean  found her tabby cat apparently decapitated and left on her doorstep on Longridge Avenue. The message on social media mentions that the cat's tail was also missing.

We understand from the correspondence that the police have been informed. As already stated these are unconfirmed reports. As soon as we know more or can verify the information we will update.

If the story is sadly true then it does bring to mind comparisons with the 'M25 cat killer' reports that have been in the national media in recent years.

Updates:
Christine Robinson: South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL) are aware of this reported incident. They are liaising with the Metropolitan Police on Op Takahe which is the investigation into what has become to be known as the M25 serial cat killer. They no doubt in a short time confirm if this latest victim is part of that inquiry. Please keep your cats indoors after dark and report anything suspicious to the police quoting Op Takahe.
Thank you

Lizzy Rinder: It has been confirmed that police and SNARL attended today and removed the body of a cat from Saltdean. They also attended a similar scene in Bristol. If you see anything like this please DO NOT remove it or touch it, but as mentioned above call 999* and mention Operation Takahe. You should also contact SNARL directly on 07961 030064 or 07957 830490.

* We suggest calling 101
