On Sunday September 17th, David Attree will be setting off at 09:00 on the iconic Brands Hatch race track. His lap times will be somewhat lower than usual however, as he is undertaking a 6 hour challenge on his road bike. The track undulates, with a 1 in 9 hill at one point, so just think "Interval Training" for 6 hours, and you'll be close. He is aiming to get to 100 miles ridden in that time, which will require a decent average speed, but with the help and support of other riders from Blind Veterans UK, is feeling sure he will get very close! David works for Blind Veterans UK on a voluntary basis and is now considered to be their "Writer in Residence" so gets to meet some amazing people and write-up some even more amazing stories. Blind Veterans UK rely solely on donations, so the event needs to raise as much as possible. We have all spent time (slowly) driving past the Blind Veterans UK centre on the Ovingdean roundabout and what goes on behind those doors is truly brilliant. If any of you reading can spare any amount, David will be able to focus his efforts on the training, as this event is not for the faint-hearted! I hear you. "What's he doing NOW?!!!" Well, On Sunday September 17th, I will be setting off at 09:00 on the iconic Brands Hatch race track. My lap times will be somewhat lower than usual however, as I am undertaking a 6 hour challenge on my bike. The track undulates, with a 1 in 9 hill at one point, so just think "Interval Training" for 6 hours, and you'll be close. I aim to get to 100 miles ridden in that time, which will require a decent average speed, but with the help and support of other riders from Blind Veterans UK, I feel sure I will get very close! Blind Veterans UK rely solely on donations, so I want to help as much as I can. I appreciate I have gone from London to Amsterdam a couple of times recently for Prostate Cancer UK, but if you can spare any amount, the total can be reached swiftly and I can focus my efforts on the training, as this one is a different kind of beast!
