Saltdean - Brighton
Chris Wrapson: Good old Sussex by-the-sea. No need to put Saltdean on a pedestal with this Wonderful 1964 view it does that all for itself.
"The Ocean Hotel" in its heyday under Butlin hi-de-hi ownership, a Southdown No.12 bus in it's original pleasing apple green and cream livery, The pitch and putt golf course (now long gone) and the A259 before the junction with Arundel Drive West existed.
The photo also shows the Lido building and swimming pool being refurbished just prior to reopening for the summer season 1964. Note the pool’s now familiar 'Mediterranean blue' finish and the new library building under construction. The photo dates from 1964.
