Speculation has surfaced on popular local social media sites that recent reported incidents of feline deaths could be the work of 'M25 Cat Killer'.
The Police and SNARL (South Norwood Animal & Liberty), who are an organisation at the forefront of trying to help catch the killer, appear to have been informed.
The trademark of the perpetrator appears to be the removal of the unfortunate animals head and leaving the creature on path/drive ways near to the cat's home. The killings were first reported in areas around the M25 in London a few years ago but are now emerging more regularly in our region.
It has been posted that one cat was found decapitated in Telscombe Cliffs with the police are aware of another incident near-by.
Another Facebook post says that a cat was found in Woodingdean having suffered a similar fate. It has also been reported on SNARL that there was a similar incident in Portslade.
If you witness or have witnessed any suspicious behavior that leads you to be very concerned about the safety of an animal in this manner, please contact the police on 101 or 999.
