The Grange, opposite Rottingdean pond, is a Georgian house originally built as a vicarage. It is now occupied by the village’s Art Gallery and Museum, the local library, and the official Visitor Information Point, where you can find information, leaflets and maps for Rottingdean and the surrounding areas. In the summer months the walled garden is open for morning coffee, afternoon tea and light lunches.

At the Museum you can find out more on the history of the village, its link to smugglers, and its many famous residents. There are permanent exhibitions to Rudyard Kipling and the pre-Raphaelite painter Edward Burne-Jones - just two of the celebrated writers and artists who came to live and work in the village during the early 20th century. Also associated with The Grange is renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens who redesigned the garden as you see it today.

During May each year, as part of the Brighton Festival, the Art Gallery has an ‘Artists’ Open House’ exhibition, and hosts events and talks for all ages, including children.

Throughout the rest of the year there are a number of changing exhibitions showcasing original paintings, photographs, sculptures, jewellery, glassware and ceramics  by local artists.
