Thank you to Janice Winter and Tasha Cirkel for sending us these pictures of a portuguese man o'war they've noticed has been washed up on the beach at Saltdean.
We strongly advise that you or your pets do not to touch it as it can produce a very nasty sting that could be potentially fatal!
These creatures are not a jellyfish but a floating colony, they are very rarely seen on our shores but this year there have been more numerous reports of them being stranded on UK beaches.
If you spot a portuguese man o'war then please contact the Marine Conservation Society on 01989 566017 or email them at email@example.com.
We have contacted them regarding this find.
